The lefties getting upset about this are hilarious. "OMG, the free food the taxpayers gave me included tomato soup, which I don't even like, and bars of soap in the wrong size".https://twitter.com/JolyonMaugham/status/1318083880595951616 …

I mean as a taxpayer I would be pissed government paid a 40-60% premium. Answers required! Maybe Tesco is delivering with their uber drivers and wholesalers need to pay their union guys (at overtime pay plus pandemic hazard pay, of course).

I honestly can't imagine that a jury rigged, spun-up-from-scratch service (as compared to, say, Amazon) could manage inventory and delivery for less than a 50% premium ... can you?

Unlikely, Last Mile is difficult and expensive to solve. BUT I expect Govt to answer those sorts of questions after they spend millions of dollars.

I think "yeah, it cost a lot; try to find me anyone who'd do it cheaper" is a fine answer. I'm an anarchist; I think gov sucks. ...but I'm annoyed that folks think it's simple or free to do last mile deliveries.
