      12/ The F-350 on the lot in 2020 is a much much better vehicle. It's got airbags, better mean time between failure, more fuel efficient, less susceptible to corrosion, MUCH better impact protection. It's better to be a HS grad buying a 350 today than 30 years ago!

      This is a work truck. Seriously. The guy who owns the tiny drilling rig outfit that just drilled our well has one. He's older, and modestly successful, and wants to drive something that reflects that, while still having a V8 diesel to haul shit. Not gonna judge.

          I have a 96 Chevy 1500 that has maybe had 3k of work done on it. That includes a new transmission last year. My wife's Traverse just went out of warranty and we have already put over a grand into it. Cars on the whole are not more reliable now. They are engineered to fail.

          An entry level electronics tech job which requires either trade school or at least an associate's is starting anywhere from 40 to 45 in a large East Coast city. The average highschool grad is not making 40k starting. A first year teacher here with a BA might cut 40k.
