3/ Apologies are fine and actively good, even, between peers. Apologize sideways, or downwards (there are few things more powerful than telling an employee "no, I screwed up, this is on me"). But NEVER apologize to the mob.

5/ 25 Jan 2011 > [ Corcoran ] also concedes that it was "tasteless" and "callous", though he also weirdly refuses to apologize for it. "weirdly"

6/ I understand this. I care about truth, and I'm happy to correct factual things. In a functioning society, an apology is part of a ritual of forgiveness. We are not in a functional society. In ...<gestures> THIS, an apology is an act of weakness. https://twitter.com/JRstract/status/1316465054250827776 …

7/ Also, apologies are due to those who were wronged. In the current year, they are never requested by those who were wronged; they are demanded by self appointed comissars; Maoist students eager to beat and vilify. Never apologize to the mob.

8/ No, you haven't been checkmated by circumstances, you've been checkmated by Marxists. You have no duty to truthfully tell Nazis where the Jews are hiding, and no duty to apologize to Marxists. Manners are between members of a shared civilization. https://twitter.com/JRstract/status/1316466472047259656 …

Replying to @MorlockP
I would generally say that in this case, if you've done harm to someone, it may be your duty to apologize to that person probably in private I can't think of a situation where it's a coherent moral duty to make a public apology to the mob
