i disagree. most dictionaries and every major atheist organization uses that definition, so.

However, the vast majority of times you encounter somebody on the internet who's making a point of identifying as an atheist they mean the other definition. I'm on the same side as the dictionaries but we've still lost.

I think 20 years ago I was in a bubble where that wasn't yet the case. But, yeah, for the vast majority of purposes, we lost, hence why I rebranded.

The trouble with “lack of belief” is it requires ignorance of a proposition. Once one engages the proposition, one can no longer claim to lack belief about it; they must come down for, against, or undecided. Agnostic has always been the word for undecideds.
