2/ "We need to develop an atom bomb to defeat the Axis. How many foreigners should we hire to staff the project?" "Zero!" ok, tell Albert Einstein, Hans Bethe, John von Neumann, Leo Szilard, James Franck, Edward Teller, Rudolf Peierls, and Klaus Fuchs to go away.

6/ I didn't argue that we SHOULD import millions. I argued that "zero" is the wrong number.https://twitter.com/YelloPaddedCell/status/1313911582011789317 …

YelloPaddedCell @YelloPaddedCellReplying to @MorlockPBut we aren't importing a few scientific geniuses to work on a scientific breakthrough to defeat Hitler, we're importing millions of foreigners to code for@fitbit and do accounting for@KPMG. They're not trying to save the world from fascism, they're trying to save a buck.2 replies 0 retweets 12 likesShow this thread -
7/ also "saving a buck" is not a bad thing; all of our lifestyle and freedoms are based on efficiency (without technology we'd likely still have slavery, bc people prefer evil to hard work). The whole point is to consider TRADEOFFS. H-1Bs have both costs and benefits.

10/ Nothing is entirely evil/pernicious, because nothing is without both costs and benefits. How many murders should we have? Zero? What is the cost ON OTHER AXISES of achieving that? https://twitter.com/DeanBradleySFF/status/1313912536199245826 …
