/ I don't know if Trump will be reelected or not, but this "feeling" of a "real shift" is an entirely engineered effect. Fundamentals have not changed from a week ago, but tone of coverage, funded-by-one-side polls, etc. certainly have. Relying on gestalt impressions is dumbhttps://twitter.com/bethanyshondark/status/1313852278567301123 …

/ Of course, this is how the game is played. There's nothing underhanded or surprising about the Dems and their allies in media orchestrating this (well, no more underhanded than is inherent in the very idea of politics and democracy). Again: this is how the game is played. >

/ and we've KNOWN that this is how the game is played for 40 years (or 400, or 4,000, depending on how you want to count). Demoralizing the enemy and sapping his will to fight is older that Caesar, older than Sun Tzu ... older than recorded history. You have to EXPECT it.

/ The "feeling" that something has "shifted" is EXACTLY WHAT EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE EXPECTED. If one side has a complete monopoly on media, high, low, and middle, a monopoly on universities, and a near complete monopoly on the organs of state - this is EXACTLY what one expects.

/ The phrase "October surprise" has been around for 40 years. What month is it right now?

/ Getting an October surprise of motivated polling, talking-head talking points, press coverage, etc. in ...wait for it ... October, is EXACTLY what we would expect, and therefore there is absolutely no new data here.pic.twitter.com/12Ivr0USBW

/ This is the EXACT same "change" in "gestalt" that happened 4 years ago this month, with the "OMG Trump and women" news cycle. The darkest pill of all in growing older is realizing that there are no adults. No one learns. No one thinks.
