If we discuss how much food people buy, we might find that when salaries go from $60k to $70k the amount of deserts ordered at restaurants increases. This can not necessarily be generalized to a theory that the PRIMARY thing that people want from food is desert, or that >>

the PRIMARY thing people buy with money is food. ...but "people spend extra money buying sugar" may be 100% true at the margin that we're studying.
