4/ Other attorney made several arguments that helped my case. What's the etiquette here? Do I tip him, or just make sure that Christmas bonus is nice?

5/ Neighbor decided to make a statement. UTTERLY DESTROYED his chance of ever getting a variance. "I could have built the barn somewhere else within the legal setbacks, but then I would have either had to move my propane tank, or pay money to have the electric line moved"

6/ Not really. There's a 5 point test, other party has to win every single one of the five points. One is "hardship". Which has a definition. And "I'd have to move a 200 lb propane tank on a handtruck and that might take me 30 minutes"...whew lads.https://twitter.com/KJTwitty/status/1305899930897321984 …

7/ Indeed. And as hard as the variance procedure is, if you violate a Cease & Desist, and build anyway, then you can't apply for a variance but for an equitable waiver of dimensional requirements, which is even harder.https://twitter.com/DJSchreffler/status/1305900286196813827 …

As someone who has been on the defend the idiot who is wrong side, I feel for opposing counsel. Especially since you are not allowed to withdraw in the middle of a hearing due to aggravated lackwittery by your client.

Don't be so sure. Travis has been frustrated at every turn so far - to the point the regulators themselves have shrugged and said "so what?" Which is what brought him here. It doesn't help that he's from near Boston and this is rural NH.

my attorney called me afterwards ecstatic bc the judge's questions basically showed that he understood and accepted our PoV and was asking other side "is there ANY defense against this very strong case? ANY? Beuller? Beuller?"

Always a good feeling - as a former boss told me, the key to a successful practice is picking the clients who are on the right side.
