Twitter friends, what do you think? We (me, wife, 2yo) have been staying with my in-laws in a small town in Poland since March bc Covid. Mother-in-law is a teacher in a small (<100 students) school. Schools reopening. Should we go back to Big City? I'll give some details below.

Staying with in-laws has downsides - my wife argues with them more than is healthy. In the Big City we have a flat on 4th floor in a big building - must use an elevator (too high for stairs with the child).

In-laws have a big garden, 2yo likes playing here. He has a lot of energy, becomes restless when too long indoors. The flat in Big City is small (bedroom + living room with kitchen appliances).

I am working from home, and I think it's easier at the on-laws' place: sonny wants me to play with him, here I can go upstairs so he doesn't see me. In the Big City I would be in the next room, behind a door.

Inside the block of flats in the Big City I don't think people will be wearing masks. They mostly weren't doing so three months ago. 2yo is very smart but I don't expect him to be able to wear a mask ...

Were it me, I'd rent a place in the small town. Good luck!
