4/ However, that 17.3% includes employer contribution. And we can discuss how, sure, ALL taxes are, at some level born by citizens, but for actual-recorded-income, we're looking at 7.6% up to $132k. So running total is up to 33% or so.

As a single person in CA, I probably hit 40% three times all-in and 45% once. On the *margin* haha yes, 50+ easy. Which is part of why I no longer live in CA. /Admittedly, I moved to NYC and blew my knee so badly I can no longer live in NYC...

Yeah, I live in NH too... and this is why ;) No crime is good too, though, and kayaking... BTW, we spend more on our public schools per pupil than the high-tax states (they're still bad tho ;)

You're forgetting taxes on corporate income (48%!) built into prices. And don't leave out the inflation tax... printing money is not just a tax, but it causes misallocation of capital by distorting price signals. Capital gains tax, estate tax, tax on dividends... regulations...
