I agree in principle. However, generally speaking, I think "feeding kids a good meal" is one of the least offensive use of state funds.

Yes, but it's one of the most offensive justifications for a bloated school system. If you want to feed kids, ship a box of $3 MREs to their homes, instead of paying teachers $100k to do nothing and justifying it with a $2 meal

Except the parents often can't solve their own problems, and outside of that box of cereal, there's not much coming down in the way of food as we think of it (I say this from both personal exp and that of foster kids I've known)
