The cultural thing I took away from my third job was "Single company-wide code linter to auto-enforce style" The Fourth job *finally* taught me the value of adding bug numbers to comments. /Doesn't count 2 internships and 2 college jobs.

I am in awe of this comment meticulousness
-
The two cases where you write comments like that: 1) The giant pile of bugs as seen there 2) I really truly want to think through this algorithm *before* I write it out.

Were you always like this or is it trainable?
-
trainable I used to be a mess (in college), and slowly realized that the more I forced myself to organize, the calmer and lower-stress my life became

(1) the uniq thing isn't documented and sadface (2) if you ever revisit that code more recent rails seems to have .sum (you may already know this but I was digging around to satisfy my curiosity) (3) I get the feeling .inject is more idiomatic than .reduce but it makes me cry
-
I use sum() all the time, but inject() theoretically allows computation to happen without loading EVERYTHING into memory actually trying to TRAIN myself to use inject more bc it's the RIGHT THING, even as I prefer sum
