4/ Mechanics owning their tools, Uber drivers owning their cars, etc is the American ideal - this is the Jeffersonian Yeoman farmer. The thing that people dislike is that market competition makes clear exactly what value people deliver, which shatters pretty delusions.

yes, JA, but ... Wraith is making an argument, and his argument is NOT "Uber should be careful of doing X lest it get regulated in manner Z". His argument is "Uber is bad and abuses people by doing QRS. something something social expectations". I want him to define the link.

In seriousness, it matters because this is why we get the California thing with Uber/Lyft. The normies are constitutionally incapable of understanding that I am not an employee of Uber and don't want to be. They can't conceive of NOT working for someone as an employee.
