which is funny, because I would encourage someone to choose as I did by appealing to their empathy: "imagine how you would feel if you knew you could have gotten paid more at no cost to anyone else, but they declined to do so because it might seem unfair to someone"

I do think there's something to this — the natures of the two genders (writ large, in aggregate, etc.) comes from differing reproductive roles and incentives, and those differences in incentives are ultimately material

but I equally think there's something to "women must not be allowed to rule because their leveling instinct is to the detriment of the group." we (human species) need both. yin and yang, etc. folk wisdom has a lot of truth to it IMO
