4/ I mean, even most of Tolkien's poems and songs are kinda cringe, and one skips over them like a 70 page Ayn Rand manifesto

bosco @selentelechiahmm on the one hand I have some snobbish frustration with the whole "90% of everything is bad" thing. if you're looking for good stuff and trying to create good stuff it can be aggravating to have to sort through the low-quality stuff but... https://twitter.com/MorlockP/status/1293960911984758786 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 5 likesShow this thread -

bosco @selentelechiaok so when I wrote poetry as a kid there were always adults who would fawn over it no matter *what* I did and then there were the adults who would graciously accept my little scrawled couplets as the gifts they were, but only *praise me* when they thought it was goodShow this thread2 replies 0 retweets 18 likesShow this thread -

10/ almost everyone skips Tolkien's poems and songs, even huge Tolkien fans poetry, even top-1% poetry, is almost always badhttps://twitter.com/PhilthyPhil2012/status/1293991128920801280 …
ⓘ Dogs don't have thumbs added,
Literally Sean Bannon @LiteralSheridanI feel bad because I did skip all of Tolkien's songs and poems, but I feel no regrets for skipping Ayn Rand's long author tracts because if you've read one you've quite literally read them all. https://twitter.com/MorlockP/status/1293961550089334786 …Show this thread8 replies 0 retweets 8 likesShow this thread -
Replying to @MorlockP
I read *Exploring J.R.R. Tolkien's 'The Hobbit'* by Corey Olsen which did line-by-line commentaries on all the songs and poems. "Oh shit, there's actually a lot of gold in them there hills."
