4/ I mean, even most of Tolkien's poems and songs are kinda cringe, and one skips over them like a 70 page Ayn Rand manifesto

bosco @selentelechiahmm on the one hand I have some snobbish frustration with the whole "90% of everything is bad" thing. if you're looking for good stuff and trying to create good stuff it can be aggravating to have to sort through the low-quality stuff but... https://twitter.com/MorlockP/status/1293960911984758786 …Show this thread1 reply 0 retweets 5 likesShow this thread -

yeah I think the thing that feels important is...not snuffing out the playful/exploratory spark while they're still getting their feet wet, you know? and the original thread was me thinking about how delicate that position feels, even when the stuff they make is good

oh, the other thing is, sometimes people don't need or want feedback; they're just fucking around and pushing them to Improve when they just wanna fuck around can make playing stressful

don't disagree w this but our threads are in two different directions. Yours is how to foster young talent, mine is mostly about how poetry is a very fraught art form and almost all of it (far more than 90%) is terrible and embarrassing.
