yeah I think the thing that feels important is...not snuffing out the playful/exploratory spark while they're still getting their feet wet, you know? and the original thread was me thinking about how delicate that position feels, even when the stuff they make is good

As a father of a child with very high artistic aptitude, and one who’s VERY intelligent but inherited my artistic talents, it’s fraught. It’s also not too convenient that the latter child has a much sharper BS detector.
