1/ Friend tells me about a bad author who writes crappy game tie in novels. Wikipedia: > he also writes and publishes an online newsletter...of tips, tricks, and tidbits about fiction writing (focusing on, but not limited to, science fiction and fantasy).

He teaches SciFi/Fantasy writing at BYU and all his lessons are on YouTube. I listen to his podcast Writing Excuses almost every week.

Sometimes good practitioners like to teach the craft because they like to teach. Sometimes poor to middling practitioners teach the craft because it’s the only way they can eat. Novices have trouble distinguishing. (Also, diff skillsets. Fair writers could be excellent teachers.)

It may be a case of social media skewing things. The loudest "imma teach you to be a writer" voices on Twitter - most that I've seen are r*tarded. But maybe there are good authors who put it out there, and if you find it/read it, good for you. If not, that's cool too.
