I've read the first couple of books. There's some good thoughts in there mixed in with a LOT of handwaving. I didn't finish the series.
I've reached the point where I am not sure if it is going anywhere. Kind of boiling down to the old omnicidal Old Ones reaping any upstart space-faring species, and that is a pretty worn trope at this point.
