thinking on this more, I think you want pigs. 1 pig = 400 lbs live weight = 200 lbs cut weight (all meat) 1 lb/person/day = ~30 pigs per year. At this point I can butcher a pig in about 1 day. So 30 man days of work for the above. With a 20 man crew, that's like 1 weekend.

I find that they're perfectly fine. Would recommend raising pigs to anyone with land and an interest in ... uh ... hands-on, esoteric skills.
