I haven't seen Molly's Game, or even heard much about it, but I just watched the trailer, and the third thing I noticed was that in all these high-roller upscale poker games they're using the CHEAPEST CRAPPIEST POKER CHIPS that you can buy at Walmart.

Apparently that's maybe not even inaccurate. Reportedly there's a section in her book where she says she eventually caught someone who was sneaking chips into her game. ... WHICH IS WHY YOU DON'T USE WALMART CHIPS FOR YOUR GAME !!!

You spend a little money and get something custom-made. Labels or hotstamps with the name of your game on it. It's not even expensive. This is Elks-Club Saturday-Night-With-The-Boys 101 and she blew it while running a celebrity high-stakes game. shaking my damn head

Apparently in real life she did at some point upgrade her chips to incorporate some security measures (like, for starters, being custom instead of off-the-shelf), and apparently that is referenced in the movie as well.

The chips they use in the movies as props for the upgraded chips are still pretty cheap and crappy, but nobody except chipheads would know that. They *look* very fancy, even though they aren't. No telling what she used in the real world once she did finally upgrade.

Fun fact, which is central in Molly's Game - if you run a high-stakes celebrity poker game and let them tip you you can make thousands a night, but if you charge a rake you're running an illegal game and the FBI will arrest you.
