I mean, it’s a laser pointer. It’s specifically designed to point things out from afar. Such as which door they’re about to come out of, or which officer appears to be preparing to commit a war crime.

If it wasn't green, I'd agree with you that there could be innocent reasons for having it. Green laser pointers are more expensive than red, but they are much better at blinding people. Is there any innocent reason to be using a green rather than red laser pointer here?
