1/ Need lumber Don't have a truck So...delivery. Lowes' website sucks, delivery costs $100. Local hardware store is great, but there's a building boom here outside the cities (...go figure!), and they can barely keep up. $500 min order for delivery, won't delivery under that

2/ In saner times delivery in town was like $20 if you were under the minimum (which was, in turn $250, not $500), but now they're so swamped they just flat out won't deliver for under $500.
@LibertyFarmNH had a genius idea: buy fence for next year.3 replies 0 retweets 6 likesShow this thread -
3/ Small problem: lumber yard doesn't sell fencing. ...but they DO sell pressure treated 6"x6" posts, which I use like three of at every corner of the pasture, and another two for every gate. And they're pricey, which is good news (in a sense) when trying to hit a minimum.

4/ ...and, you know, pressure treated. So I can just stack them in the corner of some pasture for five years if I want, exposed to rain and snow and sun, and they're none the worse for wear. So this is an excellent life hack: add 6x6PT to any order to get up to minimums !

5/ Yeah, dude, I know. I had an SUV that could pull a trailer, but after replacing alternator, muffler, front wheel bearings, upper control arm ball joint, then the head and head gasket went bad and started leaking oil, and I said "F this" >>>https://twitter.com/Rudefire/status/1287747773421387777 …

6/ And gave it to a charity for the $100 tax write off. That was maybe two years ago. Given that feed store and lumber yard both deliver for, like, $20 or $0 fee, I've really only NEEDED a truck like once a year.

Replying to @MorlockP
is it non-trivial for you to rent a truck when you really need one?
