1/ Need lumber Don't have a truck So...delivery. Lowes' website sucks, delivery costs $100. Local hardware store is great, but there's a building boom here outside the cities (...go figure!), and they can barely keep up. $500 min order for delivery, won't delivery under that

8/ speaking of "alternate capital demands", one thing about homesteading is that the little blind is $500 and big blind is $1,000. "Need a chest freezer" throw in one or two chips Spring maintenance on tractor, riding mower, plus a jerry can and some chainsaw chains - one chip

I get that the truck has more uses than $100 delivery, but it feels like you can pay a *lot* of $100 delivery fees and still not be getting anywhere close to the cost of ownership of a truck. /Much as yeah.... that's a wince.

That is a sweet truck and you should buy it. But a little trailer is more affordable and even with a small car you can safely tow a 4x8 200lb + 650 lb load trailer that will get most of your farm supplies. I've a 16 year old 300k Nissan Sentra in my driveway that did it just fine

I've got a trailer, but have been loathe to put a trailer hitch on my sedan - manual says "don't do that"
