1/ Need lumber Don't have a truck So...delivery. Lowes' website sucks, delivery costs $100. Local hardware store is great, but there's a building boom here outside the cities (...go figure!), and they can barely keep up. $500 min order for delivery, won't delivery under that

7/ Given alternate capital demands (fencing the orchard, another chest freezer, etc etc etc etc) a truck hasn't QUITE risen to the top of the list yet. It will, at some point.https://twitter.com/MorlockP/status/1287498139126108160 …

8/ speaking of "alternate capital demands", one thing about homesteading is that the little blind is $500 and big blind is $1,000. "Need a chest freezer" throw in one or two chips Spring maintenance on tractor, riding mower, plus a jerry can and some chainsaw chains - one chip

I guess I just imagine any plot of homestead land as a million acres
-
you're saying "...and thus you need a truck to get around your own land" ? I've got 56 acres. I can walk or take the tractor anywhere on it.
