1/ I've submitted stories to two anthologies. First told me it would be published in 2 months, then slipped the schedule 1 month per month, for almost a year and a half. I withdrew it and self-published it in three days, and it's been earning me money every since.

2/ second one signed a contract with me, telling me I'd get a statement of copies, revenues, and royalties once per quarter. Three quarters later, and no statements, despite me asking repeatedly.

4/ Not sure if this is a dry reference to "just use Amazon, dummy!" ? Yes, Amazon rocks. My goal with joining anthologies is to cross-promote; fans of X buy the antho, discover me, etc. https://twitter.com/octal/status/1285993856023044099 …

5/ eh... 99 cents is about, what, 45 seconds of your salary? opportunity cost while reading a story is about 20x the cost of the story also, CC processing is going to be around $0.20 flat fee PLUS %, so price cutting is suicide for platform, author https://twitter.com/octal/status/1285998064784867328 …

6/ back to original topic of no statements despite asking: re-reading contract, they have 60 days from close of quarter. They've blown 2 deadlines. Giving them 1 week, then exercising my option: 60 day notice of withdrawl from contract.

Offering some more data points: In the past six years I've sent 16 stories to 61 markets for a total of 111 submissions. 9 have been accepted. Payment has been before or a couple of months after publication, except for a royalty share one that's only be out a couple of months.

Looks like you're dealing with an outlier at the bad end of the curve.

Alas, "moral" and "competent" do not always correlate.
