I literally do not understand how people move out of state with children & pets. Who has done this? How is it done?

are you using movers? I certainly would - especially as I assume you don't have too many possessions, therefore should be affordable enough. If so, one can pack an entire house in 1 day. Move on Tuesday. Send kids to grandma's Monday morning, pack for 18 hours, done >>>

our in-neighborhood move took movers about 1 full business day start to finish, so it's not a tremendous job

out of state is gonna be 2 days, min: 1 day at old location, 1 at new may impose some mandatory duration between the two, like 1 /2 /3 days, depending on schedule

@LibertyFarmNH and I stayed 1 night in a hotel with dogs in Manchester NH between old and new homes
