I literally do not understand how people move out of state with children & pets. Who has done this? How is it done?

hard to find new place to move to (too hard to stay somewhere temporarily w pets/kids), would need to buy car but probably don't want to do that here so gotta rent one-way which is tricky, I would pay for packing services but still some up-front work, timing everything ?

> buy a car I've bought very very few cars, so no expert advice, but thoughts: * rent for 1-2 weeks, buy at new location * or lease for 1+ years (can be quite affordable, I hear)

are you using movers? I certainly would - especially as I assume you don't have too many possessions, therefore should be affordable enough. If so, one can pack an entire house in 1 day. Move on Tuesday. Send kids to grandma's Monday morning, pack for 18 hours, done >>>

our in-neighborhood move took movers about 1 full business day start to finish, so it's not a tremendous job
