5/ <deep breaths> My current plan is to carry them to the third floor, wait a few weeks or maybe a few months, so that the thick sludgy oil fully polymerizes, and then hit the glossy spots with some fine grit sandpaper to knock the gloss back.

7/ OK, I calmed the F down and put on my problem solving hat. "There's too much Danish oil pooled up and tacky" what dissolves Danish oil? "mineral spirits" ok, Other TJIC, so ... "I will wipe it down with mineral spirits" and...? "and scrub the surface with a 3M green pad good

10/ These pics are taken in the absolute worst / most unforgiving light: a low, raking angle. If the "after" picture looks like a B or B+ in this light ... it's all gonna be OK. Went and did the other 4 shelves as well. Balance has been restored.
