Only know Mieville and Barnes and they CAN write. Had to mute Barnes on twitter because he keeps talking politics. Do I dare ask your opinion on good conservative leaning authors? Anything about Treecats in your library or too sentimental for you?

Frankly, I'm starting to agree with the notion that the Left is way smarter than the Right, generally speaking. Doesn't make them correct. But... smarter.

The conservative/libertarian SF writers have the same problem
@hradzka writes about on the political side: no infrastructure. Lefty writers can go to Clarion for training and resume fodder, network with editors and agents, and promote each other. -
On the other side we do some cross-promotion but with less material to work with, the markets are lower-paying, and there's few cons for networking. And that's not even getting into SFWA vs. several attempts to start new professional organizations.
