I've got a project: hire an excavator for 3-4 days to recontour one of my pastures to remove boulders, and make topology safe for tractors. Scheduled for 1.5 months ago - perfect. Cool wet early spring is great for reseeding grass. Never showed Phone rings. "How about today?"

4/ I've got three fenced pastures that I'm doing rotational grazing on. This is one of them. Obviously it will be out of rotation for a few months after seeding. Hmm...good question. Implies 2nd good reason to delay: fall planting doesn't impact sheep https://twitter.com/graywaiter/status/1269984783528050689 …

5/ well, I've bought SOME of the equipment. Dropped $2 or 3k on a drag harrow, cultipacker, and cone spreader. not willing to drop $$$ on a bulldozer right now (although I AM shopping for a mini excavator ... maybe a ~ 50 HP kubota) https://twitter.com/madre_duck/status/1269984230982979586 …

6/ Goal is to have excavator remove or bury boulder, smooth entire surface of rolling hillside. No need to complicate things with temporary fencing, etc. Just recontour entire field, replant, done. https://twitter.com/graywaiter/status/1269989134854168576 …

learning myself that scheduling this kinda work isn't like scheduling other kinds of work the practitioners have a constantly changing set of imperatives that they are juggling and you find that they "poll" you seemingly randomly learning to adapt
