Never run on concrete. Ever. Run on asphalt only if you must. So many baseball careers cut short from running on concrete covered in a few mm's of astro-turf.

There's no difference in springiness between concrete and asphalt. If you want to preserve your joints, got to run on grass and such. Mostly though it's a dose thing. Running has negative consequences beyond say ~30 km a week. Athletes can easily overdo it.
