2/ I'm not saying DON'T put yourself in the role of the guys with guns. Sure, do that. "OK, I heard a rumor that somebody had a break in 3 months ago, and I dislike crime." Great. Run that simulation in your head.

3/ but ALSO run the simulation where you're a 25 yo out for a jog, and you see a house under construction, and you're curious and stick your head in for 3 minutes, touch nothing, breaking nothing, steal nothing, and then resume your jog ... and three guys in cars cut you off

7/ If three randos assault me in the road and one of them points a gun at me, you can bet that I'm going to try to bat it away, at the very least, and take it away from him at most. Either I win, or he goes to jail for murder. Either way, boss move.https://twitter.com/MaxeyWen/status/1259871987075174410 …

8/ RT
@GepppySB video shows Arbery walking (not jogging) up to the house. Neighbor...sees him. After Arbery notices, he runs away as if fleeing. Two 911 calls were made, so shooters weren’t the only ones suspicious. I’m not defending shooters though! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9PSZKaW6xo&app=desktop …Show this thread -
10/ I think the problem in the analysis is that there are two axises: * was he out jogging or was he ne'er do well * were a bunch of randos justified in forming a vigilante posse, pointing a gun at him, and pulling the trigger the entire legal question is the second one >

11/ if he was a pure jogger, they randos had no right to intercept him or point a gun at him IF HE WAS A THIEF, THIS IS STILL TRUE
Show this thread -
12/ but folks want to wish away this complexity and * turn two distinct questions (was he breaking the law? were they?) into 1 (was he a thief?) * use the result of "was he a thief?" to justify anything / everything
