I'm pretty sure they understand this. However, their employees have neither a long term employment contract, nor tenure, nor a pension. In the face of massive human churn, they use architecture to RETAIN IDEAS by having newer employees talk to older employees a lot.

I'm on my way out the door of a role I had very high hopes for, but have been disappointed in my own middling performance in. Trying to understand why it turned out not to be a good fit, I do wonder about the factor of near-constant interruption from loud-talking neighbors.

Dumbest idea ever... So many of your most productive people in a crowded office are introverts, almost by nature. That said, in my experience, music makes you more productive at physical labor, so I doubt the universality of this result.
