On the one hand, this graph maybe points to a real problem. On the other, administration is real, and (a) is a complement to underlying service delivery, (b) is often done by service providers. Welp, my data is being married to a guy who has been a doc for over 30 years, and the observed changes in the stupid admin bullshit he deals with vs the amount of time he’s actually treating patients. That ratio has gotten much MUCH worse over the years - not better.

He could likely carry TWICE the patient load he does now, easily and safely, if quite literally half his time wasn’t taken up with redundant and overlapping and always-new-and-changing admin compliance crap. Most of what they do is create stuff to justify their dept’s existence.
