8/ There is a ton written about self-motivation, visualization, etc. Can't hurt to read some of that. Keep your sacrifices small so that you can tolerate them. No one can hold onto a burning pot handle for months or years.

11/ re workouts: my belief, based on some reading, but not exhaustive study, is that the cardio of the 80s, 90s, and 00s is not productive in weight loss, but intense weight training is. A lot of guys have had good success with relatively short intense gym workouts such as >>

12/ One or two or three sets of 50 kettlebell swings. ...and nothing more. Get a 35# or 50# KB. Watch some vids for technique. Work up to it slowly. Get to 50 or 100. Work further to 50 or 100, 1 min rest, another 50 or 100.

13/ Goal of this is not to burn calories per se, but to hammer your body and tell it, at a biochemical level, "hey, we're not sitting in cave over the winter, trying to hold onto calories. It's spring, and we're chasing gazelle with an atl atl."
