I don't see how it's the individual consumer's job to manage the supply chain. I bought a couple of respirator filters because the price was reasonable (not hoarding).

1) I would still feel bad about implicitly murdering my stepfather even if I *was* outbidding the big hospitals. 2) If there's real resource constraints somewhere in the chain, every mask I'm buying *is actually* taking one from someone else.

#2 is always operational, but it's much more operational when we can only make 10-20 Million a day than when we can (and do!) make 600 Million.
