2/ so if you've got a species that's evolved to live in small tribal bands, or villages, and the kids are evolved to wander too and fro, play tag with each other, sing songs, skip rocks, help dad skin a buffalo, help mom pick some berries, then wander off again ...

3/ to take both adults & kids of that species, divide them into atomic family sized units, drop them into small apartments or suburban tract houses, give the adults ZERO useful skills, and ZERO chores that benefit from the help of kids, and give the kids ZERO history of helping

4/ notice 3 weeks into this very weird social experiment that (a) we're not really designed for this (b) and to the degree that we are, we're not TRAINED for it and then to crap all over the parents for being ill suited to deal with kids ...

5/ well, I'm not going to go all "The industrial revolution has been a disaster..." on the topic, but I bet that Amish parents, home schoolers, etc. are having a much better time of this than normies who are (a) having culture shock, (b) aren't prepared for this.

I have an almost 2 year old and my daughter was born the week before this all hit the fan. I love them dearly but 24/7 with no break while trying to work is a lot.

Exactly...love my kids...they won’t let me get anything done and it’s unfair to even ask. They are kids...I can’t ask them to just “go away” for 10 hours

I just think a lot of people in the replies don’t have kids and don’t realize they are little people. In lockdown, ANYONE is going to get annoyed with someone around 24/7....including spouses. I love my wife...more than most love theirs. 24/7 gets old fast.

Bear in mind how many marriages go into crisis once both are retired and home full time

I'll tangent a bit and comment that this is not limited to lockdown, it's just more pronounced. Every year starting about July the memes and comments start coming about school starting again. It's been a trend to take "parents happily leaping about" first day of school photos.
-
I've always found this to be cruel. How do you think the kids in those photos feel that their mother doesn't want them around? That they have to endure all the pressure and stress of school for her to be happy and free?
