Rights of passage are a thing, and toxic expectations of gender are similar to what I am describing, but are not really the same as the struggle of trans people to be recognized as who we are I failed all the boy tests, and there are still tons of people who'd assert I'm a man

In point of fact, they'd assert you're male, but not a Man. Even if the terms are used interchangeably, you know what they mean.
