So many people have difficulty understanding that we're seeing the light from a distant star. The light in the room right now is not now's light. It was light cast off at a predictable time in the past. We will see now's light a predictable time in the future.

I really understand that I will be a frustrating person to follow on Twitter for the next few weeks, because I have spent fifteen years saying what I mean and meaning what I say, and I will spend the foreseeable future meaning things I have very carefully not said.
