what's remarkable about this article is that Krug doesn't even mention fracking i was living in Ithaca in 2010 and oil companies buying up farmland for fracking (and opposition to this) was on everyone's mind, didn't realize it was such a black swan

You could plausibly read fracking as one of the alternative ebergy sources he refers to categorically. With all the obviously wrong things he's said, no need to dwell on marginal cases.
