Designing and building a mitre saw stand today and really want 8' or infeed / outfeed table to either side of saw, but don't remotely have room for 18' of table. Leaning towards 12' of table total. Unsure of setup. 7' to one side, 2' of saw, 3' to other side?

2/ perhaps infeed and outfeed are the wrong terms? I intend to set up a system with measuring tapes and stops, so that I can cut 50 pieces EXACTLY 49.5" long without measuring or marking.https://twitter.com/MBtherealme/status/1238852691734003713 …

Why would you need outfeed/indeed for mitre station? It’s not like you need that lumber to go anywhere after you’re cutting? Usually you’d like it to go no where!

3/ I tend to this now, but using a very ghetto, jerry-rigged approach with C clamps, 2x4s, and offcuts. e.g.pic.twitter.com/QGKWROE7m3

4/ A fine idea that serves tens of thousands well, but it doesn't feel quite right to me. I've got that option now with my ~25 year old folding contractor's saw base (see above) and hate it / never use it. I prefer Soviet concrete over Japanese origamihttps://twitter.com/NerdKing52/status/1238856098385403905 …

5/ Yep, but that's 8 + 4 + 2 for the saw = 14' feet. Going to 12' is already pretty big in my overcroweded shop - will fill one garage bay left-to-right and block half of the next (the one that has the garage door I walk through to the outside).https://twitter.com/bsmant/status/1238851471426404352 …

I had a set up with roughly 8' on one side and 4' on the other of a RAS at my last house. Worked quite well. I rarely work with stock longer than 8', and the circular saw always works well for the exceptions.

6/ yep! I don't assert that my preference is or should be the preference of others. Even tho I bitch about a crowded / too small shop, I'm lucky enough to have three full garage bays that I have to share with no one / nothing. Very luck, all in all!https://twitter.com/NerdKing52/status/1238857009828634627 …

If you’ve got the room it makes sense for permanent supports. My garage is small enough I have told be able to take stuff down and move it, alas.

7/ Will check it out, but have done a fair bit of research over the years, and have built several utility workbenches, storage cabinets, etc etc etc and I know what I like. >>>https://twitter.com/Bighodagxl/status/1238857311973707776 …

On Instagram there’s a guy called chicagocarpenter with tons of sick workbench wing setup ideas. Guy is a pros pro and after 30 years as a carpenter I don’t say that lightly.

8/ Current plan is 24" deep, 32" tall, 12' wide. Big plywood box (two, actually, next to each other), subdivided into three 4' wide bays, each open at the front for storage, all atop http://grizzly.com  mobile base. This is how I built the CNC base and it works well for me.

9/ yep, the one I'm using now (purchased back around 1997 or 98 when I was building the addition on my old house) is a Delta with pivoting-out-arms. https://twitter.com/stucknLAwzmbies/status/1238862071544102913 …

10/ Base cabinets done (tho i might add doors later?). Going to buy a new mitre saw (sliding!), then build left / right fences to the matching height. Going atop a Grizzly mobile base (arriving Tuesday).pic.twitter.com/EPOsaQZ4LY

12/ Not ENTIRELY happy w result. Maybe 1/8" of sag in the middle of the run, and it only has 1/4" of ground clearance at the corners, so it almost drags in the center. Thinking of making 2" thick riser blocks for the casters, to life the whole thing up a bit.pic.twitter.com/yXelqKCZPV
