Cleaned workshop, dropped and skidded two decent sized trees, breaking for lunch.

Do you load them in your outdoor furnace that size, or is additional splitting required?
-
Splitting is required to dry. I'm burning these green, for reasons, so I load em in like this

From a newbie homesteader to a veteran one: Why an outdoor boiler? I only looked into them briefly, and decided against when I saw the energy efficiency figures. Was I missing something in my calculations/considerations?
-
My house came with it. I'm sure there are somewhat more efficient wood burning options, but keeping dirty wood outside the house has benefits. Also, baseboard hot water heat heats all rooms of house.

Not sure! Just some standing deadwood and a few trees intruding on my pasture

Can you talk about your forest management philosophy? I.e., do you have calculations for how many trees you need for heating each winter vs. how many you have?
