I think this is the non central fallacy - we already have laws that make it illegal to kill people and eat them, therefore there's no implementation problem AT ALL with banning meat eating (1 meat type down, 10 more to go) these laws work, to the degree that they do, bc >>>

demand is so rare, and cultural revulsion is so high we can arrest (some) kiddie porn viewers bc the guy at the Genius Bar is a willing reporter why is it that a ban on behavior that 0.001% do works but a ban on behavior of 50% of people doesn't ?

the law did not teach people not to drink alcohol, nor not to use drugs "the law is a teacher" is a hypothesis that should be investigated...and perhaps rejected bad / unenforceable laws, I argue, teach people to have contempt for good laws

I suggest that any law that does not have popular support will not work ...and most laws that do, will so then the question has nothing to do with what law you should pass, and everything to do with "how will you sell this message?"

a law giving the state the power to issue a piece of paperwork (whether it's an export license for a favored big business, or a marriage license for a favored demographic) has nothing to do with enforcement this entire conversation has been about enforcement of criminal codes
