100% agree on your core point on a tangent, tho, it is kind of interesting to learn that burning has two distinct stages: (1) pyrolization, where flammable gasses are cooked out, and burn ABOVE the wood (2) the burning of the carbon coal that is left behind (no open flame) >>>

2/ and to further learn that "making charcoal" is the process of doing step #1 but not step #2, and saving that for later. ...not that any of this justifies "dragons!" nonsense

3/ ooh! Just had an insight! I mean, I'd known the above, and I'd know the following too, but never put them all together: wood gassification is the process of capturing the gas from step #1 and not immediately burning it.
