Related, read an essay recently (not sure where - perhaps @patio11 ?) talking about how Japanese culture has more respect for service roles, and reflects this in mode of address. The essay said that a sushi chef is addressed as "Mr Sushi", a garbageman as "Mr Garbageman" etc

I once left a job (fired or resigned was a matter of some minor dispute) as a shift manager over my saying the word "bullshit" in response to safety equipment (oven gloves) having been thrown away for cosmetic concerns w/o having any replacement. I just needed to share that.
