First two books: very enjoyable. Last book: the world is saved by two 11-year-olds deciding to defy convention and have sex. Ruined a great effort at world-building. Fun fact though: Pullman was the next-door neighbor of my best friend in high school

...it undermines the whole "hey, the Magisterium symbolizes all that is bad and authoritarian about organized religion" thing if the key thing it seems to be interested in prohibiting is in fact grossly immoral.
