over the last few weeks a kind of annoyance has been crystalizing ... or, rather, my understanding of the set of people/actions that trigger it is crystalizing the other side is "the anti-civilizational". not people, but behaviors. Some very pro-C people have anti-C behaviors

2/ might work it up into an essay, but probably won't There are all sorts of personal moral failings, peccadilloes, sins, etc. that are, I suggest, sub optimal, but do not really harm civilization that much.

3/ Talking about things normalizes them, and causes memes to spread, whereas just doing certain things does not. Arguably better to have two quiet alcoholics than one person writing essays about the joys of "day drinking".

4/ So I guess I'm talking, to some degree, about a "memetic commons". But there are other ways to damage civilization. Casually using up or degrading resources for hedonistic purposes instead of husbanding them is another.
