Disagree with the conclusion. The bugs shown indicate a lack of quality control. A novice could fix them using modern tools without needing to understand the underlying "nuts and bolts". However it is a wonderful indictment of Apple's degrading standards.

That said, I do believe software does have a potential "over-abstraction" problem coming, is currently experiencing a "re-inventing the wheel" problem (NIH syndrome), and has too much of a faddish culture that has regressed in maturity.

when I got into industry c 1993 I thought "it would be great to learn everything between keypress and BIOS and disk controller". Within a year I realized that that was the work of 10 lifetimes. And that was almost 30 years ago.
