One is fit and trim and vigorous, walks > 1 mile per day, climbs stairs rather than using elevators. But 'doesn't want to, but wills him/herself to do so anyway' is another way of saying 'wants to exercise more than wants to be in poor physical condition.' Others have a different calculus.
